Do you need a gift for a new home owner in your life? Whether you’re buying a gift for yourself or someone else, here are some great suggestions for unique new homeowner gifts. Grouped by gift type, I hope these ideas are helpful with any last minute shopping!

Gifts for the Home Cook:

A KitchenAid Stand Mixer ($350-$500)

If you’re looking for a gift that will last a lifetime, then consider investing in a KitchenAid stand mixer. This versatile machine has been used by professional chefs for years, and its durability means it will continue to perform well even after years of use. It also comes with a warranty that covers any defects for up to five years.

I’ve had my red Bowl-Lift red Kitchen Aid Mixer for almost 15 years using it several times a month and it’s still in great shape. It’s the gift idea that keeps giving, because you can also continue to give (or collect!) different attachments. We have the 3-piece pasta roller and cutter set, the gourmet pasta press, the 7-blade spiralizer and the food processor attachments. We love them all!

Cusinart Immersion Blender ($64)

Having an immersion blender in the kitchen is a secret weapon – especially during soup season. You can use it to blend all kinds of sauces, soups , dressings, and purees, without having to transfer messy liquids from the stove into a blender. The Cuisinart CSB-179 Smart Stick Variable Speed Hand Blender even comes with accessories that elevate its versatility: a 3-cup chopper/grinder, chef’s whisk and 2-cup mixing/measuring cup. Trust me, if the new homeowner in your life enjoys cooking at all, they’ll love this thoughtful gift!

Our Place Cookware ($15-$310)
I love the innovative, multi-functional design of Our Place products. Their Always Pans are space-saving and allow you to use one pan for any of the following uses: braise, sear, steam, strain, saute, fry, boil, or serve. It’s truly an all-in-one pan and we use it almost every day. Great for smaller kitchens too, since it replaces the need for multiple pans and saves storage room.

Almond Cow ($225-$345)

I should probably work for Almond Cow, I love it so much. For anyone trying to cut back on dairy, or even just saving money rather than constantly buying the expensive nut milks packed with gums and preservatives from the grocery store, this amazing appliance is for you. The Almond Cow machine makes any number of nut milks you can imagine in literally seconds. It’s truly incredible to watch. The company also has a vast array of recipes, milk combinations and creative ways to use the leftover pulp, making it a sustainable choice.

I recommend getting one of their starter bundles, which includes the machine, a large glass bottle, cleaning implement and more.

Gifts for the Gardener/Plant Enthusiast:

The Sill ($20-$220)

If you love plants as much as I do, check out The Sill. They have a wonderful collection of plants ranging from small table top specimens to larger trees and floor plants. They even have a handy filter on the website so you can choose the size, as well as identifying which plants need more or less sun, are pet-friendly, and which are easiest to care for. A great new homeowner gift idea could be a single plant, or a grow kit

Potting Mat ($25-$39)

These useful gardening tools are great for indoor and even outdoor gardening. They trap any water or dirt as you’re working on repotting your plants and come in various sizes, styles and colors. Some also give you the option of adding gardening scissors. Here are a couple more I like: Plantheology Gardening Tools & Plant Mat, Plant Havn Potting Mat.

Terracotta Watering Assistants ($10-$65)

We have raised beds in our backyard and a community garden plot so these ancient, low tech gardening techniques are really helpful for keeping our garden watered – even if we’re away for a week. We even use these for our indoor plants. It really cuts down on watering time. You can re-use old wine bottles and use Terracotta Watering Spikes for a lower cost option, or spring for a larger Oya. Either way, you’ll keep your plants happy even if you can’t water them every few days.

Multi-colored block print corn hole set on green grass

Gifts for the New Homeowner who loves entertaining:

Lawn Games ($40-$250)

Everyone loves a fun lawn game – it’s an easy way to entertain friends of all ages. We were recently introduced to the Finnish lawn game, Molkky. Part bowling, part corn hole, part shuffleboard, this entertaining game requires skill and luck.  You can also play individually or in teams, making it versatile for small or large groups.

Corn Hole is a more common choice, but I’ve seen some really cool twists on the classic design. These range anywhere from $60 at Walmart to $250 or even more for custom, high quality sets. Here are a couple I found that are both aesthetically pleasing and a great idea for your next gathering: Retro Stripes Corn Hole or Hatch Sunburst Corn Hole.

Gifts for the Practical Homeowner:

A Smart Thermostat – $60-250

Give the new homeowner in your life the gift that keeps on giving: comfort. You can find smart thermostats at almost any price point, so there’s no need to spend a lot of money to make sure your home stays comfortable throughout the year. However, some models offer more features than others. It’s worth doing a little research before making a purchase. These devices allow homeowners to control temperature remotely, saving energy and money while also ensuring comfort. They’re easy to install and use, too.

We just installed our Nest a few weeks ago and it’s already learning our heating and cooling patterns so we don’t have to worry about constantly turning it up and down throughout the day.

Another useful feature is controlling your heating and cooling system remotely through an app on your smartphone. This is great for when you’ve been away and want to check in on the house or start heating it up on your way home.

Dyson Air Purifier  – $300-$800

This multi-purpose air purifier can also cool and heat your home. Some models even act as humidifiers. The newest models can link to an app on your phone, sharing information about the air quality of your home. They’re also are wifi, Bluetooth and Alexa enabled for convenience. We use our Dyson Pure Hot + Cool model almost every night, and love the timer and sleep mode functionality.

Wyze Cameras – $65

These inexpensive cameras can give you peace of mind when you’re out of town. Or even if you just want to check in on your house during the day. They plug into any outlet and are small enough to be placed almost anywhere.

They are wifi/bluetooth enabled so they connect to an app on your phone, allowing you to keep tabs on any corner of your home at any time. Newer features include color night vision – pretty cool!

I hope these gift ideas were helpful as you shop for your favorite new homeowner this season! Happy Holidays! For more holiday tips, check out my post on Easy Ideas for Decorating Your Holiday Table.
