I should probably work for Almond Cow, I love it so much. For anyone trying to cut back on dairy, or even just saving money rather than constantly buying the expensive nut milks packed with gums and preservatives from the grocery store, this amazing appliance is for you. The Almond Cow machine makes any number of nut milks you can imagine in literally seconds. It’s truly incredible to watch. We have raised beds in our backyard and a community garden plot so these ancient, low tech gardening techniques are really helpful for keeping our garden watered – even if we’re away for a week. We even use these for our indoor plants. It really cuts down on watering time. You can re-use old wine bottles and use Terracotta Watering Spikes for a lower cost option, or spring for a larger Oya. Either way, you’ll keep your plants happy even if you can’t water them every few days.

Give the new homeowner in your life the gift that keeps on giving: comfort. You can find smart thermostats at almost any price point, so there’s no need to spend a lot of money to make sure your home stays comfortable throughout the year. However, some models offer more features than others. It’s worth doing a little research before making a purchase. These devices allow homeowners to control temperature remotely, saving energy and money while also ensuring comfort. They’re easy to install and use, too.
We just installed our Nest a few weeks ago and it’s already learning our heating and cooling patterns so we don’t have to worry about constantly turning it up and down throughout the day.
Another useful feature is controlling your heating and cooling system remotely through an app on your smartphone. This is great for when you’ve been away and want to check in on the house or start heating it up on your way home.
Dyson Air Purifier – $300-$800
This multi-purpose air purifier can also cool and heat your home. Some models even act as humidifiers. The newest models can link to an app on your phone, sharing information about the air quality of your home. They’re also are wifi, Bluetooth and Alexa enabled for convenience. We use our Dyson Pure Hot + Cool model almost every night, and love the timer and sleep mode functionality.
These inexpensive cameras can give you peace of mind when you’re out of town. Or even if you just want to check in on your house during the day. They plug into any outlet and are small enough to be placed almost anywhere.
They are wifi/bluetooth enabled so they connect to an app on your phone, allowing you to keep tabs on any corner of your home at any time. Newer features include color night vision – pretty cool!
